Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
